Review: Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Cupuaçu Lip Butter

I have used Bite Beauty Lip Mask and Lip Balm for several years but they have been recently discontinued due to Bite Beauty reformulating their lines to adhere to vegan principles. My lips get dehydrated and start peeling very quickly as a side effect of long term medication so finding a lip balm that works is important to me. As I was searching for a new lip balm I found the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Cupuaçu Lip Butter (£15). Made with Cupuacu (which is related to the cacao tree) the lip butter supposedly  smells “good enough to eat”. The Cupuacu fruit is combined with coconut oil and açai oil to create a lip butter which is creamy, velvety, smooth and richly hydrating. What have I got to lose (apart from £15) whilst on the search for hydrated lips?

I purchased my lip butter from Feel Unique so I could collect my points. When I opened it I immediately smelt a sweet, cocoa fragrance, that did smell good enough to eat.

The lip butter did feel smooth and creamy when I applied it to my lips. They did feel moisturised at first but would that moisturising effect last? I found that it did. I don’t need to reapply throughout the day, which in someways was a shame as I enjoyed the fragrance of the butter which wore off before I needed to reapply. The butter left a nice sheen to my lips, making them look healthy and hydrated.

I would repurchase the lip butter. It did rehydrate and moisturise my lips, without needing to reapply during the day. Most lip balms can’t cope with my desert dry fentanyl affected lips!

I purchased the item myself and the views expressed in my blog are my own
