Couture Kingdom Disney Essential Toy Story Hamm Piggy Bank Enamel Stud Earrings & Necklace

The Couture Kingdom Disney Essential Pixar Hamm Piggy Bank Enamel Earrings (£14.99) and Necklace (£17.99) are available on both Couture Kingdom sites. They are part of the Disney Essential range and are made from stainless steel and have detailed enamelling.

The earrings measure 12mm and are packaged in a display card, whilst the pendant measures 16mm and the chain 40cm with an addition 7cm extender. The necklace is packaged in a gift envelope which is great as the chain doesn’t get tangled up.

The Disney Essential range make great gifts which are easy and light to pop in an envelope and post due to the current social distancing rules. The Jewellery is cute and reasonably priced for the quality and detail that goes into each piece of jewellery. These items, and others I have reviewed, would make a great gift for any Disney fan.

Review & Win: Couture Kingdom Disney Essential Pluto Enamel Stud Earrings & Disney Essential Classic Pluto Enamel Necklace

Couture Kingdom have brought out a more affordable range of Disney jewellery- the Disney Essential range.  The pieces include, for example, stud enamel earrings (£13.99), classic enamel necklaces(£16.99)  and pins (£9.99). The birthstone range has also been revamped and put in to this selection of jewellery. The characters included in the range are Pluto, Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy. The items are all made from surgical stainless steel and are hypoallergenic. Most of the items have enamel or Swarovski detailing. Each item comes presented on a Disney branded card.

I chose the Pluto Enamel Stud Earrings and Classic Enamel Necklace.  I find that the chain is a lot more sturdy and less likely to tangle/ easier to detangle than the sterling silver or vermeil gold version. They are lovely pieces that would go with any style of clothing. I haven’t taken the items out of the packaging as they are going to be this month’s Instagram competition prizes.

Necklace Extenders at JewelleryBox.co.uk

Ever had that necklace or bracelet which is just too short to sit comfortably around your neck or wrist? Have you thought about necklace or bracelet extenders. These can extend a chain from between 2" and 4" and can either add a new dimension to your necklace it make your chain more comfortable to wear. You just clip them to your existing chain's clasp. Making a chain longer can also make it easier to fasten as there is more chain to grip.

I have a spinal injury, fused neck and neuropathic pain which means that my neck is slightly wider than it used to be and I cannot stand anything that feels right around my neck. I found some necklace extenders at JewelleryBox.co.uk (they also sell them via AmazonUK which is where I purchased mine) and I can now wear my necklaces comfortably. The extenders are available in 2", 3" and 4" length, are available in sterling silver, gold dipped sterling silver and rose gold dipped sterling silver. Prices are from £4.05.

Z for Accessorize Halle Semi Precious Lariat Necklace

I have not bought any Z for Accessorize jewellery since March, but this necklace really caught my eye. The Halle semi precious pendant (£19) is a gold plated lariat style necklace.  The semi precious green stone at the top of the necklace is quite substantial and eye catching.  There are several cubic zircon stones in a drop at the bottom.  It has a built in chain extender.  It is a piece of jewellery that can be worn in summer but also looks great with a winter polo neck jumper.  As I am short it looks a lot longer on m than the model on the Accessorize website.

I purchased this item myself and the views expressed in my blog are my own.

British Museum: William Morris Heart Necklace

I bought this necklace from the British Museum for £14.99. It is also available on their website.  The heart necklace is printed with a bird and floral pattern inspired by the 19 Century artist William Morris.  This artwork is part of the famous strawberry thief range which Liberty use as a print for a variety of items.

The chain is silver plated and 18" in length.  The heart itself measures 3cm x 2cm.  It came in a little black gift box and well wrapped in a jiffy bag.  It is an elegant little pendant that would look great with a white t-shirt and jeans or a smart suit.  I found the clasp quite fiddly to fasten as it is smaller than a lobster clap but once it was fastened it felt secure. the British Museum have some really lovely jewellery items which are reasonable in price so they are a well worth a browse.

#EarthyJewel Pink Chalcedony Pendant

I  decided to widen my gemstone jewellery collection as, after careful consideration, the majority of my jewellery is either labradorite or moonstone. After perusing Etsy I thought this pendant would be a pretty and cheap (£10.27 inc postage) way of venturing into a paler more summer colour palate.

The stone is natural pink chalcedony and is 12mm. The stone is faceted on one side so the light bounces off it and the other side is flat so rests comfortably against the chest area. It is made of 18k gold plate and looks a very bright gold which sets the pink off perfectly. There was a choice in necklace length - 16, 18 or 20". The only problem I have with it is the clasp. It is S shaped and as I have grip/ coordination problems I have difficulty forcing the jump ring into position through the S. As it is a S clasp I cannot fasten my magnetic fasteners to the necklace without it being obvious and the S dangling down.

The seller, based in India, was very helpful and the postage was around £3. My necklace came in a plastic box so was very well protected. I would buy from this seller again. The price of the item was reasonable, the design is unusual and the stone cut and setting looks more expensive than it actually was. The only downside is the clasp for wonky hands like mine!

The Lion King Simba Silhouette Necklace: A Roaring Review

I bought my Simba pendant several years ago from Disney Couture UK and he gets lots of admiring comments whenever I wear him!

The necklace is 14k gold plated and has quite a short chain (14-16") depending upon whether you use the extender. The clasp is large so easy to grip so it is easier to fasten as there is more to hold. It is easy to open and connect as it is or connect a magnetic closure. The necklace comes in a little purple silk pouch with Disney Couture embossed on it which is really cute and ensures that the heck lace doesn't get scratched when not being worn.

All Disney Couture jewellery is well made (I also have a bambi necklace) and the enamelled work on some of the pieces is very detailed. The pieces are not childish or twee but aimed at adults who still  love Disney. The most recent pieces are Alice in Wonderland items and whilst they are not my cup of tea, they are cute.

Disney Couture UK's customer service is fab and they are always very active on their social media channels and often run competitions and giveaways.

I think my next Disney Couture purchase will continue with the Lion King theme and I will save up for the Lion King  Hakuna Matata Simba gold plated locket style necklace as it looks very tactile and cute! (and Timon is on it).

I bought the item myself and views expressed in this post are my own.

Coin pendant holders for all price points

Coin pendant or bracelet holders are a fabulous concept.  The coins are interchangeable and as they are a standard size - 25mm and 33mm can be switched between different brands. The most well known brand is Emozioni (part of the Hot Diamond brand) but there are several brands and ranges with different price points depending on the materials used.

The coin is placed in the open holder, it is then closed and the chain threaded through the top of the locket to hold it in place.
The great thing about these pendants is that as they are reversible there are no unsightly settings- both sides are equally as pretty.
Price wise the cheapest I could find for a holder, coin and chain was just under £20 at beads direct.co.uk. Bear in mind they are not sterling silver etc but silver, gold or rose gold toned. They are, however, very pretty items.

More expensive brands make their items out of vermeil, sterling silver and rose gold are Emozioni and Mi Moneda.  They do carrier bracelets, matching earrings and rings. The great thing about this jewellery concept is that once you have a holder the coins can be bought for special occasions and the choices are endless as new designs are brought out each season.

Jewellery for Literary Lovers

Ever had a relationship with a book or series that you couldn't put down, empathised with or just counted down the months until the next one in the series was published, or know someone who is all/ any of the above. Then what about some book related jewellery?

Recently my mum had to get rid of some treasured books and as a compromise I found on Etsy (where else) a seller, MalteseMagpie who converted the front cover of books in to chunky acrylic bracelets. The buyer can choose 8 pictures which she the pits into acrylic. The buyer can choose a silver or gold background. She ships from the USA so you have to take into account customs charges but altogether including shipping the final price was around £54 for a piece that is unique and means a lot to my mum. The whole process including delivery time took about 3 weeks.

If you want to buy just one book themed piece of jewellery on Etsy there are lots of sellers who sell the Harry Potter series as pendants so it always worth searching for the cheapest, always factoring in shipping and customs. My pendants cost between £6 - £10 each depending on the seller and what the front cover is. Beatrix Potter was the most expensive.

The Literarygiftcompany.com do a range of book related jewellery which aims to recycle as much as possible. Want an Aslan brooch made out of paper, Your own mini Harry Potter bookcase pendant or a pair of Too Kill a Mockingbird book and typewriter earrings? These and much more can be found at this great shop.

Enchanted Leaves do a huge range of book/film related jewellery. Your own hobbit door necklace, pet dragon, golden snitch or labyrinth door knocker earrings can all be found in this Etsy store.

The choice is endless, especially when there are so many innovative, enthusiastic sellers on Etsy, EBay and Notonthehofhstreet.com.  Happy browsing!

Brooch or pin converters

Ever had that special brooch or pin that you just don't wear in case it pulls your clothes? What about investing in a brooch or pin converter.   Available at most jewellery maker online shops and on Amazon UK (mine cost under £5 each including shipping), these nifty little inventions can stop your beloved brooch from languishing at the bottom of your jewellery box.

There are both horizontal and vertical converters, which one is suitable for your brooch depends on where the pin is situated. The converter slides over the pin and is locked into place by closing the clasp. The necklace then goes through the loop at the top of the converter, either saving your brooch from being abandoned in the jewellery box or by making a new piece of jewellery!!
