Review & #win: SVP Rapture Rainbow Moonstone Midi Adjustable Ring

The SVP Rainbow Moonstone Midi Adjustable Ring (£99) is a stylish ring that can be either worn on its own it layered with other SVP adjustable rings for an eclectic, unique look. Each SVP ring takes 18 pairs of hands to make and is made either out of recycled sterling silver or recycled gold. I have mentioned the SVP story in a previous blog post. 

This ring is quite chunky. The rainbow moonstone (9x11mm) is set in a sterling silver scalloped bezel with an adjustable ring band.  The ring band is quite wide but not uncomfortable to wear.  As I have small hands and this is a large ring I found it quite bulky to wear and I could only layer one ring with it. I love the way the moonstone changed colour on different lights and the scalloped setting is unusual. The ring came in a SVP branded gift box and a little gift card explaining the meaning of the stone.

Review: Silken Favours Butterfly Silk Scrunchie

 
Silken Favours is a  company based in the UK which creates hand drawn prints and transposes them into beautiful pieces of silk artwork. The creative director and owner of Silken Favours is Vicki Murdoch. I  have followed her company  on Instagram for sometime as I love looking at silk printing and silk scarfs. I really enjoy her aesthetic - the animals, unicorns and general artwork are so realistic and detailed. All the items are hand made in Britain. Sadly most of her items are way out of my price range. During lockdown, however,  she posted that she was making scrunchies out of her off cut silk prints.  I purchased the butterfly  scrunchie (£12). The butterfly scrunchie can be worn around the wrist and admired, or used as for its intended purpose, a hair tie. I like that she hasn’t just cut through the material, massacring the butterflies but instead has cut the material sympathetically so the artistry can be admired. I like that every time I look at it I see something different. Last time I was showing someone I noticed the tiny fly. Obviously as the scrunchies are made from off-cuts each one is bespoke and that makes them unique as no one else will have one like mine. As they are silk they won’t rip or damage your hair when pulling it off.  Since I bought my scrunchie she has also brought out a range of silk face masks (£20). I especially love the cat riding unicorn face mask!

Review: Wet Brush Go Green Oil Infused Coconut Brush

This Wet Brush is not yet available in the UK so I purchased it from Amazon for $12.66 plus $5.35 shipping. I love Wet Brushes, I have used and reviewed several different ones and my absolute favourite is the Epic Deluxe Shine hairbrush. I saw the Go Green oil infused range of Wet Brushes advertised on the US Wet Brush instagram page and was intrigued as my hair has been looking dry, frizzy and limp due to a variety of reasons. 

The Go Green line, as the name suggests, is very eco friendly. The brush handle is made from biodegradable starch which will break down in a landfill within 5 years.  The boar bristles are cruelty free and distribute the natural hair oils, leaving it looking healthy and shiny. The ultra soft IntelliFlex bristles easily and gently detangle knotted hair whilst protecting against split ends and breakage. The cushion of the brush is infused with Coconut Oil. The oil will last for up to 6,000 brush strokes and conditions each strand of hair, smoothing the cuticle and locking on moisture for softer looking and feeling hair, leaving it smooth and shiny. 

The brush is incredibly light in comparison to my Epic Wet Brush which I am pleased about as I have been struggling to use it as my health deteriorates. The bristles feel gentle but still massage the scalp, the coconut oil isn’t noticeable, I can’t smell or feel it in my hair but it does look shiny, feel softer and is overall more manageable.   I really like this brush, it is light, easy to manage, my hair looks more me again, rather than just than the frizzy yet lifeless mess of a few weeks ago. I will continue to use it and the Go Green version may well become my favourite brush. 

I don’t use a hairbrush whilst drying my hair but there is a warning not to use a blow dryer with this brush as it may damage the bristles, instead the advice is to use a Speed Dryer instead.
