Review: TumbleandRose Sterling Silver Tiny Raw Aquamarine Necklace

I was recently diagnosed with and was told that I need treatment for glaucoma. I have always teetered on the edge of the thinking semi precious stones have restorative or healing qualities and as I was feeling pretty upset about the diagnosis I looked up which stones could help eye problems (obviously I will still continue with mainstream medical treatments, the laser procedure was not fun).

Aquamarine is a positive gemstone thought to bring happiness and help with grieving process. It is also thought to improve eye sight and help with eye problems. 

I purchased a sterling silver tiny raw aquamarine pendant (£16.10) from Rose and Tumble, a small Etsy seller. She makes no claims aquamarine or any gemstones have healing benefits. I chose this pendant because I like it.

The pendant arrived nicely packaged in a tiny hessian gift bag. The raw aquamarine stone is tiny but also extremely beautiful and minimalist. The rawness of the stone makes it seem very pure and close to nature. The silver setting and jump ring seem to make the stone glow in the sun. 

I really like this pendant, bought in a moment of panic, I don’t think it will solve one of my many health problems, but it does cheer  me up  when I wear it.

The Old Farmhouse Jewellery: Squirrel Charm Pendant

Sterling silver squirrel studs last December.   The owner found one lonely last squirrel charm that could be made into a charm necklace (£20). As it is a gift I haven't put it on but the chain measures 18".  Although the squirrrl is no longer available there are lots of different charms available - unicorns, rabbits, hearts etc.  You can also design your own charm bracelet/ necklace and have it personalised which would be a great gift for Mothers Day.

Pandora Disney Collection

 The Disney Pandora Collection has made it to the UK!!  Made from sterling silver, enamel and sparkling crystals, the collection comprises of the traditional Pandora bracelet and beads, locket and charms.  The prices are listed n the above photo and seem quite reasonable considering the amount of detail that has gone in to each piece.  Pandora have a special intoductory offer on at the moment - if you spend £99 on this collection you get a free gold disney clutch bag.

Accessorize Sterling Silver Labradorite Pendant

This pendant is from Accessorize and their Sterling Silver range. It is currently in the sale for £13.60, down from £17. The chain and pendant measure 23cm and the labradorite stone is quite small and delicate is 1cm.   The necklace is an extendable chain with a lobster fastener which can be extended from 19 to 22cm.    The necklace comes on a swing tag. I ordered it online and it came packaged in a little plastic bag, bubble wrap and an Accesorize branded box as outer packaging, so it was certainly securely packaged! P&P was a £2 flat rate as I spent under the minimum needed for free postage (£35). I also collected my reward points as Monsoon/Accessorize have a reward card scheme. Even though I am slightly disappointed with Z for Accessorize S/S designs, due to the lack of semi precious stones (which made the designs stand out) I think this piece made up for it and I shall enjoy admiring/ wearing it.

Rutilated Quartz Gold Ring

I purchased this rutilated Quartz ring from the handmadejewelsstore via Etsy UK. It cost £32.62. The stone is black rutile and measures 10mm. The band of the ring is 1mm. I chose the gold over sterling silver option as I thought it brought out the black strands of the stone and contrasted well with the clearness of the stone. The ring is very comfortable to wear as the band is thin. It does stand away from the finger slightly but even as someone who is forever rubbing my eyes and risks scratching my glasses it still fits close enough to my finger for this not to happen. 

I have purchased from this store before - I bought some tourmaline ear crawlers (and some opal ones that are waiting to be reciewed). The jewellery is very well made and the stones are unusual. The customer service is great. It normally takes around 2 weeks for my items to arrive in the UK.

There is a fine line to be drawn between the chunky, obvious, designed to be seen medical bracelets and ones that are more discreet, elegant and fun. Obviously in an emergency you want your medical bracelet to beef by medical personnel but for the rest of your life, well me anyway, want to try and forget or make the bracelet as unobtrusive as possible. I have uploaded a selection I bought from Amazon UK.  The thin bracelet is sterling silver whilst the teddy necklace and friendship bracelet are stainless steel. They are all engraveable and the medical bracelet insignia is clearly identifiable. The sterling silver bracelet is 5" with a 1"extender. The engraveable plate is 8mm x 18.5mm and the chain has a lobster clasp. The bracelet is £17.72 plus £3.99 p&p.  The teddy necklace chain is 14", tithe bear is 9x7x2 cm, so can fit a lot of detail on it and costs £18.71 plus £1.60 p&p. The friendship style bracelet is £12.99 with Amazon Prime and costs £12.99. This bracelet is a macrame nylon adjustable bracelet  and is aimed at the teen market. The bracelet is adjustable from 7.5" to 10.5". There were also lots of funky children's Velcro bracelets and some chunky gold bracelets but for the moment I am happy with these.

Medical ID  bracelets save lives.  They inform other people who need to know what is wrong with you  when you are incapacitated.  The traditional ID bracelets are very chunky and visible.  They are engravable with the aliment, gender and name.  There is a variety of designs and sizes listed on the order sheet and more designs are available online. Beauty and the Beast Chamilia Bracelet

Disney are re-releasing the animated classic Beauty and the Beast on the 17 March 2017 as a live action retelling of the cartoon classic. Starring Emma Watson (Belle) Dan Stevens (Beast) and Luke Evans (Gaston) the film will update the older version with new songs and a new more feminist slant.
Chamilia have brought out several charms in conjunction with Disney to celebrate this remake. Mrs Potts, Chip, Lumiere and the rose are all there.

The price ranges from £35 for Chip to £45 for Mrs Potts. They are all made out of sterling silver with enamel and Swarovski accents. They are currently on sale at H Samuels, so grab a bargain - I love Mrs Potts and her lavender hat!

QVC Dimonique sterling silver 1.5 ct tw graduated ear climbers

I bought these graduated ear climbers from QVC UK and they are sparkly! They cost £26.95 excluding delivery and came via Royal Mail. They were on advanced order so I waited around 2 months and got a dispatch notice last week. They arrived today.

The earrings came in an egg blue Tiffanyesque box so would make a Christmas present that doesn't need wrapping! The earrings themselves are 18mm long, sterling silver, rhodium played and have a stud fastening. The Dimonique stones are graduated in size and the stones working from the largest one to the smallest are lavender, pink, purple and white. 

They are comfortable to wear and fit nicely along my ear. The butterfly has been designed in a way that prevents the earring from slipping off the ear. I did find it more difficult to fasten than the climbers that I have reviewed previously that you just squeeze into position but that it because I find it difficult to grip the butterfly and put it on the post. 

These climbers are great for winter/ Christmas. They are sparkly and eyecatching and would look great with party outfits!

Constellation Capricorn Ear Crawlers: A Review

I purchased my Capricorn  constellation ear crawlers from Karlasdesign on Etsy UK. They were £7.60 excluding  p&p. I chose the Capricorn version but the other constellations looked equally as nice. The ear crawlers are sterling silver and even though they look delicate they are quite sturdy. They came in a little purple box which I will use as ajewellery travel case. 

I found that it would have been easier to get the earrings in if the posts had been at a little sharper and  when I brushed my hair behind my ears I kept catching the stars which pulled the crawlers out of position. These are only small niggles. They are comfortable to wear and discreet so a nice alternative to wearing studs for work/ college. I only have small ear lobes and the constellations only just fit - I don't think they would look as good if the end was hanging off my ear but for the price I do like them.

Artsy Chicas Layla Sterling Fertility Pendant: A Review

I purchased the Layla sterling silver fertility  pregnancy pendant in amazonite, rose quartz and moonstone from artsy Chicas on Etsy for £19.33 not including shipping. The stones are supposed to balance your chakras. All three are calming fertility stones. Rose quartz is supposed to be the stone of love and fertility, promoting peace and serenity.  Moonstone is the feminine stone thought to promote conception and help with anxiety. Amazonite balances feminine and masculine energies, encourages calmess and reduces sadness and like rose quartz has a calming influence. Sterling silver is associated with the moon, drawing out negative energy and replacing it with positive. 

I did not buy it for fertility reasons - my cat is my fur baby and may make an appearance in my blog later next month. I bought it because the combination of stones is so pretty and the briolette stones are quite substantial ranging in 1-2 cm and the colours complete each other so well. It can from the US to the UK in around a week. She did give me the option of choosing other stones but I prefer these. It came in a cardboard box and little bag with a card explaining what the pendant should do. The chain is extra and due to customs charges I chose to buy my own from Amazon. The bale is quite narrow so the chain needs to have a narrow clasp to fit through.

Tourmaline Ear Crawlers: A Review

I purchased these multi stone tourmaline sterling silver ear crawlers for £42.11 (not including postage) from Handmadejewelstore on Etsy.  They each have four different coloured tourmaline stones (4mm, 3.5 mm, 3mm and 2.5mm) and are set in sterling silver. As mentioned in my October birthstone blog, tourmaline is the birthstone for October. 

The Earrings came in a little cloth bag and were packed in a Jiffy bag which had to be signed for. As they are made to order plus they came from India the time it took from order to delivery was around 8 days. Customer service was great. They emailed to tell me when my item was ready to be dispatched.  

The earrings fit along the earlobe. The earring post fits along the back of the ear so there is no need for a butterfly to secure it. You just put the post on and push and squeeze the post until it is secure and in position. The earrings feel very comfortable.  They fit flat along the ear and even when I have been fiddling with my hearing aid I haven't knocked them out of position.  They look very unusual and expensive- I haven't seen any ear crawlers like this in all my years of buying/ admiring/ window shopping jewellery. Handmadejewelstore also made ear crawlers on other stones and other finishes and had some unusual rings at reasonable prices so I know where my Christmas money will be spent!
