Win: House of Alyssa Smith, Alyssa’s Mystery Box

I reviewed the House of Alyssa Smith mystery  box in 2023. Due to my various health problems I didn’t put the box up as a competition prize as I felt too ill to even move. I don’t feel much better now but life goes on! This would make a great present for someone building their jewellery collection. There is a wide variety of items in the box (pictures below). My competition can be found on Instagram

Recap of my original review:

The House of Alyssa Smith recently released two limited edition jewellery/ gemstone mystery boxes. There was a medium version which contained 6 items and large which contained 10. I purchased the large (£55) as I thought it would make a great prize as I try to get back into blogging after a recent mental health collapse.

The website did state it could take up to 10 days to arrive and would contain 10 items that cannot be found/ bought individually on her website. Items could include charms, necklaces, gemstone pendants, bracelets and keepsake crystals and each box would contain different items.  My box included a blue crystal stone, 3 bracelets, a heart necklace and earrings. I didn’t open the three items in the envelopes as I couldn’t see how to open then seal them up again without spoiling the wrapping. The items came nicely packaged in little yellow net bags. The selection of jewellery is well thought out and would make a great gift for someone just starting to build their jewellery wardrobe.

I don’t think I would purchase a box for myself, not because I didn’t like it, I do. I think jewellery mystery boxes are a great concept. I still miss the Astrid and Miyu ones from years ago. I  been so ill and lost so much weight bracelets just fall off me so most of the items would be wasted on me.

I purchased this item myself and the views expressed in this blog are my own.

Charlotte’s Web Part 2: Review & Win Rajput Serenity Turquoise Silver Spinning Necklace

I started this series back in January with an introductory post about
Charlotte’s Web as a jewellery brand and how it has evolved. Time and my depression took over but I finally feel more like me again so I thought I would reboot the series with two reviews and giveaways, this one is for my blog and a smaller one but just as gorgeous on my Instagram.

Inspired by Charlotte Howarth’s love of India, Charlotte’s Web Rajput Serenity Turquoise Silver Spinning Necklace is a tiny sterling silver ring charm adorned with two tiny pearls and pieces of turquoise. The silver is sustainable and stones ethically sourced. The spinning principle is the same as the rings - there are three rings which spin independently of each other. The ring  pendant is £48 and the sterling silver adjustable snake  16-18” chain is £24. The chain has both a little CW tag on it and a chain extender.

The pendant would be great for those who like to fiddle to help relieve anxiety, reduce stress etc but don’t like to wear constricting rings. My fingers swell in the summer so I much prefer to wear looser jewellery like necklaces that don’t feel constricting on the skin.

I was really torn about using this piece as a competition prize. I love the idea and concept but I just don’t like or wear turquoise or pearl jewellery so I feel it would languish at the bottom of my jewellery box unworn and unloved. It doesn’t deserve this fate as so much thought and detail has gone into it!

*** Emma Jane Forster is the winner***** I don’t know why it isn’t showing up on the Rafflecopter app.

#win Little Silver Hedgehog: Copper Hedgehog Pendant & Chain

I have reviewed and given away several of Little Silver Hedgehog’s wildlife/ hedgehog themed jewellery designs. Little Silver Hedgehog is an Etsy seller who designs, makes and sells hedgehog and wildlife jewellery in recycled silver and now copper to help support her self funded hedgehog rescue. Her latest hedgehog design is made from copper. This Rose gold pendant consists of a tiny recycled copper disc with a cute little hedgehog embossed into it. The disc can be either heart shaped (H1.5cm x W1.3cm)or round (1.6 cm in diameter). The chain is a rose gold filled trace chain, available in 16” and 18”.  The pendant is packaged in a beautiful little box with a hedgehog postcard.

As hoggies are now in hibernation of hibernation as Winter gets closer (or as in my resident hogs’ case they don’t hibernate but expect and get fresh food and water 365 days of the year), they really need people like Emma who understand and care for these precious little animals. That is why I continue to buy her jewellery because not only is it beautiful and unique but it helps these beautiful and unique little animals, who look so tough but are, in fact, so fragile, and may well die out in the next 20 years thanks to humans destroying their territories and access to food sources.

Review & Competition: Alex Monroe Sample Sale and Win a Bumble Bee Pendant

Alex Monroe recently held his third Sample Sale at the Foundation Coffee Shop morning in Manchester.  Until relatively recently the majority of such sales were held in his London studios in Clerkenwell so I was unable to go. I reviewed the experience of going to the first Manchester Sample Sale here. I purchased a squirrel ring, squirrel earrings and a bird ring all of which were well under the RRP. I also purchased a Bumble Bee Pendant to use as the last competition prize of 2018. It does have S stamped on the tag as it is seconds but the bee itself looks perfect.

Review & #Win #Beauty&theBeast #primark #Mrs Potts & #Chip Bag and Purse

Primark Beauty and the Beast Chip Cross Body Bag & Purse

The Chip purse and cross body bag were available for about a second in Primark.  It is an official Disney product. I got mine via Ebay and the pair were £18 including postage. There are still some available on Ebay and the price seems to be slowly gong down.

The cross body bag is cute. It has Chip on one side and is a contrasting pink on the other.  It has a pinky/gold glittery bottom and a iridescent gold nose/handle. The zip goes along the back of the bag rather than the top so it can be difficult to fit things in it.  The strap is quite short as it is meant to be a child's bag and it is not adjustable in length.  The bag measures 12x19cm and the strap 39cm.

The chip  purse, like the bag has Chip on one side and is a contrasting pink on the other.  He has a glittery pink base, a gold iridescent handle and a gold zip at the top. He is fully lined.   He measures 9x11cm

I purchased these items myself.  To win a set of Chip and Mrs Potts cross body bag and purse follow the instructions below:
This is open internationally but as I have left it so late I cannot guarantee it will arrive before Christmas.
Complete the Rafflecopter requirements, the only mandatory option is to follow my blog, the rest are optional.
Competition runs from 20 Nov-4 Dec 11.59 GMT.

Review & #Win: Xtava Twist Curling Wand

The Xtava Twist Curling Wand costs £20 from Amazon UK with Prime.  It comes with a storage pouch and glove.  It has a LCD display, cool tip, double voltage and auto shut off.  There are three different wands available, each costing £20.  I got the largest which is 1.1.5".  The others are 0.5-1" and 0.75-1.25".  It has 22 different heat settings ranging from 90-220C.  It uses ionic technology to  prevent the dreaded frizz and the tapered wand is coated in ceramic and tourmaline to protect and maintain the health of your hair.  It has a 2.7m swivel cord.

This size of wand gives beachy, wavy curls.  The wand comes in a gift box and the travel pouch looks very stylish. The wand is a good weight but not too heavy, comfortable to hold and heats up quite quickly.   The size of my wand is more suited to longer hair.  As I cannot lift my arms above my shoulders I just curl my pony tail (or get someone to do it for me).  The long cable gives the user freedom to move around easily whilst using it.   There is no clip to distort the look of the curl.  There are three recommended setting for different types of hair ranging from delicate thin to wavy and thick.  The screen clearly displays which setting is being used.

This wand is everything I was hoping the Xtava Satin Wave would be.  Easy to use, clip less, and there is a cool tip on the end of the wand! This would make a great gift as it comes in a nice box, looks a lot more expensive than it actually is and would be a great wand for beginners.

Don't forget to use heat spray!

I recieved the Xtava Curling Wand for free from review.directory in exchange for a honest review.

Competition: to win this curling wand enter my rafflecopter competition. Open to the UK. Runs 7-15 October.
