Review: LittleSilverHedgehog Hedgehog Copper Book Charm Pendant

I love Little Silver Hedgehog jewellery and the fact that a percentage of the profit from her jewellery goes towards supporting her York based hedgehog rescue. I purchased the Hedgehog Copper Book Charm Pendant a while ago and I have finally unearthed it to use a prize and to review it.

The book pendant is at the higher price point within LSH jewellery range. It is part of the copper range and it is handmade. The book is made of copper and the rope chain has a rose gold infill. The book is incredibly intricate. The front cover has a hedgehog strolling across it and is also adorned with two little champagne coloured stones, a few leaves and flowers.  The book measures 1.4x2.1cm. The book can be opened by gently sliding down the sliding bead which widens the chain on the bottom of the book. When the book is opened two pages are revealed, each featuring a cute illustration of a little hedgehog. The back of the book is plain so will be comfortable to wear. This piece is so intricate, different and detailed. So much thought and time must have gone into making this pendant.

I love this pendant. I am only going to be using it as a competition prize because I wear (legally prescribed) Fentanyl patches which affects my skin’s PH balance and will make the copper go green and will stain my skin! This piece deserves to be worn and admired whilst also spreading the important message - save the hedgehogs.

Tada & Toy Ocean Loop Droplet Earrings

The Tada & Toy Ocean loop droplet earrings are currently in the Black Friday sale, £65 reduced to £45. I selected the rose gold Vermeil with tanzanite stones. The other options are sterling silver paired with blue chalcedony and gold Vermeil with milky aquamarine stones. The delicate chain loops fro the front stone and loops to the back of the earring. The earring look delicate and elegant. The stones are small but eye catching as the colour is vibrant. The earrings came in a small gift box and were delivered next day.  The butterfly backings aren’t hard to fasten in place despite the small chain loop. I really like these earrings, the loop makes them stand out from the traditional semi precious stone earring/stud.

Z for Accessorize: Rose Gold Semi Precious Stone & Chain Drop Earrings

Z for Accessorize Rose Gold Semi Precious Stone & Chain Drop Earrings are £12 (currently on sale for £9.60). They measure 1 1/2", are rose gold plated, have both a single tiny semi precious stone and cubic zirconia on each earring - just where the earring post is and have a butterfly fastening.  The chain fastens via a hoop which is hooked on to the earring post in front of the butterfly back.  They are very fiddly to both hook the chain in place and fasten the butterfly securely.

These earrings had the potential to be my favourite earrings of all time. The rose gold and the chain makes them that little bit different to the thousands of earrings there are to choose from. They are elegant, eye catching, all the normal superlatives used to describe a great piece of jewellery, but the butterfly backings are too loose and fall off, making these earrings unwearable! I don't know if I got a faulty pair but I lost a backing the first time I put them on to try them out and even when I fasten the earrings on the tag the butterflies fall off, then the chain and finally they fall out of my ear. So a bit of a fail!

Alex Monroe Sample Sale Review & #Win An Alex Monroe Butterfly Pendant

I have always loved Alex Monroe's jewellery and the emphasis he places upon nature and animals as part of his design aesthetic. Until now, however, his sample sales have been held in London, mostly at his studio in Clerkenwell. As this is too far for me to travel I haven't been able to go. He held his first sample sale on Manchester Foundation Coffee Shop on 2-3 December 2017 as part of his 30th Anniversary Celebrations.  As I don't live very far away I was able to attend. The prices started at £25. There were both discontinued and also slightly faulty items that haven't made it through their stringent quality control. 1st quality stock had 20% off.  The faults were clearly marked - my elephant pendant, for example, has a hole in his leg but when I looked for it I couldn't see it. My 22ct gold plate elephant pendant was £60 as were my rose gold bee and silver fox pendants. The silver bird and butterfly pendants and ring were £30 each. Some items - the ring, butterfly and bird pendants  had been discontinued.  Some of the Alex Monroe tags had "s" stamped on them.  All sales were final. Alex Monroe pouches were available to buy for £2 each.  The sample prices represented a great reduction - my elephant pendant, for example, would retail at £145 at the full price.

The staff were very helpful and would help you rifle through the boxes if there was a certain design or item you were looking for.  The items were all clearly marked as seconds or samples with the prices and separated into boxes depending upon material and whether they were rings, pendants etc. I enjoyed searching through the boxes but I went when it was quiet - I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if it had been a busy period.

The 22ct gold plate butterfly pendant and pouch can be won by entering my rafflecopter competition.
The competition is open worldwide and starts on 1 Jan 2018 and ends 14 Jan 11.59 GMT 2018.  This competition is in no way associated with Alex Monroe Jewellery. I purchased the item myself.

Z for Accessorize: Rose Gold Eliza Semi Precious Long Pendant Necklace

The Eliza semi precious longline rose gold necklace is part of the Z for Accessorize range stocked at Accessorize. It costs £27, so it is at the higher end of the scale price wise, but it is a beautiful and elegant piece of jewellery.  The chain measures 32cm including the lobster clasp and extended chain and is adorned with cubic zirconia and labradorite beads.  The pendant is a rose quartz stone which measures 2cm (L)x 1.7cm (W).  The piece is rose gold plated and the warm coloured gold offsets the rose quartz beautifully. The extender chain means that the necklace can be worn at slightly different lengths.

I purchased the item online from Accessorize.com.  Postage and packaging was £2 and the package arrived within 3 working by days.  It comes on a little Z for Accessorize swing tag.

Alpha H Liquid Gold v Alpha H Liquid Rose Gold (Limited Edition)

This blog post is going to compare the classic staple Alpha H Liquid Gold with the new, limited edition Liquid Rose Gold.

Enriched with silk proteins, licorice extract and Glycolic Acid, Liquid Gold (LG) is the "ultimate overnight facial" designed to be used alternate nights without serums or moisturisers.  It gently exfoliates and plumps tired skin, helping to refine the appearance of pores and skin texture.  Liquid Gold aims to revitalise dull, tired skin and is a resurfacing treatment designed to diminish wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage.

The Rose Gold version combines all the resurfacing and smoothing benefits of LG combined with gorgeous smelling botanical oils and weightless moisture.  As soon as i flipped open the bottle I could smell roses and once I had applied it with a cotton pad I felt more relaxed. As this is a night time treatment I could smell a faint aroma of roses as I drifted off to sleep.
I used the original LG on one side of my face, neck, decollete and hand and the Rose Gold on the other.
The original side did feel and look plumped and revitalised, The Rose Gold side also felt softer and silkier.  I preferred the Rose Gold side.

I purchased both items myself and the views expressed in this blog post are my own.

Available from:
the original LG is available from Cult Beauty, Beauty Bay,  QVC etc.
the Rose Gold edition is available from QVC UK

Minimal Rose Gold Bar Stud Earrings

I bought these rose gold bar stud earrings for £6 (normally £8) from clutchandclasp via Etsy. They also come in silver. They are made from rose gold plate metal and alloy. They measure 12mm and are quite light so are comfortable to wear and don't pull your ear. I found them quite easy to put in my ear and position. I like bar earrings to follow my ear lobe but you could also have them point down so they dangle.

The customer service was great and even though I ordered just before Christmas I got my earrings within 3 days. They came in a cute little red felt bag so would make a great gift as there would be no need to wrap, just stick a bow on and you would be good to go! The prices of all her items are very reasonable and there are lots of lovely and unusual pieces in her Etsy shop. I would recommend and wouldn't hesitate to shop there again.

I bought the earrings myself and the views expressed in the blog post are my own.

Accessorize Rose Gold Filigree Disc Short Earrings: A Review

These earrings are designed by Zara Simon as part of her Z for Accessorize range.  They are £10 and are made of rose gold plated metal (75%) and glass (25%) with semi precious stone embellishments. This is the first time I have had some Z jewellery which hasn't stated what the embellishments are made out of. The earrings came on a swing tag and as I ordered online also came wrapped in bubble wrap and in the normal branded Accessorize packaging.
The earrings are very light, elegant and tiny, once they have been put in it is easy to forget you are wearing them as they are so light! They have fish wire hooks so there is no need to struggle with the back of butterfly closures - I have dexterity problems and cannot reach across to hold the earring in my ear whilst I clip in the back of the butterfly to the back of the earring to secure it, so this is much easier. Just slide in and they are ready to go! I really like these earrings. As with all Z for Accessorize jewellery they look more expensive than they actually are and the filigree design makes then stand out and look unusual.

I bought these earrings myself and they can be found here: http://uk.accessorize.com/view/product/uk_catalog/acc_2,acc_2.4/1815298200
